Abelló Linde, S.A. has obtained the food safety management system certification ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 for our carbon dioxide production in Salamanca.
Food safety is dedicated to food safety management for the consumer and is based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point). HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product. The ISO 22000 certification highly complements the current legislation compliance for food safety.
The ISO 22000, “Food safety management systems -- Requirements for any organization in the food chain" is a published ISO standard addressing food safety management. The standard specifies requirements for a food safety management system where an organization in the food chain needs to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption, and is aligned with the Codex Alimentarius principles of HACCP .
The advantages are that it is applicable to all organizations, regardless of size, which are involved in any aspect of the food chain and want to implement systems that consistently provide safe products. It integrates the implementation of the HACCP principles with which the system supports the legislation compliance.
